EcoMarkets Australia Launches Digital Registry Project for Reef and Cassowary Credit Methodologies

Launching a Digital Future for Environmental Credits
EMA’s Value Nature framework is defined by rigorous approaches for measurement, reporting, verification, and credit issuance. Historically, implementing these methodologies required manual workflows and complex documentation and monitoring, creating friction for project proponents, verifiers, EMA and credit buyers.
The new initiative will:
- Translate methodology rules into automated workflows on Hedera Guardian, enforcing eligibility checks, monitoring, and verification steps.
- Enable digital tracking and provenance for credits, linking each credit to its supporting data and verification records.
- Develop an open-source, block-chain enabled registry that extends and adapts existing infrastructure on Hedera and connects to more environmental methodologies in the future.
“This project marks a significant step advancing our ENVOMARK Value Nature framework of transparent, verifiable environmental credits, building further confidence in water quality and biodiversity markets,” said Dr Goslik Schepers, Eco-Markets Australia CEO.
This also builds on active support in the Hedera ecosystem for the Taskforce for Nature Markets, a Nature Finance initiative, and the Biodiversity Credit Alliance work in digital biodiversity credits standardisation helping establish Hedera as a leader in biodiversity markets.
About Eco-Markets
Australia's first independent environmental markets administrator, transforming environmental stewardship into verified positive impact. Every ENVOMARK credit represents a quantified environmental outcome that has already happened— not a promise, but a proven result.
Partner Support and Technology
- Hashgraph Association: Providing ecosystem and technical support for the project.
- NoviqTech / Carbon Central: Supporting integration and deployment of Hedera Guardian for Reef Credits and other nature credits.
- Hedera Guardian: World’s largest methodology library and system for data collection and workflows ensuring data integrity for crediting programs.
- Digital Public Good National Carbon Registry: Reference code base for open source Registry Systems initiated by the UNDP
The focus of this project is practical deployment and registry launch, leveraging open-source Hedera technology to deliver a robust, auditable system for environmental credit issuance.
Benefits and Vision
Once operational, the registry will provide:
- Transparent, verifiable credits anchored on the Hedera ledger
- Streamlined issuance processes for Reef and Cassowary Credits
- Reusable open-source infrastructure for other environmental methodologies
- A foundation for scalable, credible environmental markets
This digital registry will support real-world conservation outcomes, improve market confidence, and establish a blueprint for future nature credits.
